CULTIVATED FROM A LARGE, CENTURIES-OLD WILD TEA TREE IN THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE

In the heart of the Kingdom of Thailand, Mariage Frères has discovered a gift from nature; a wild tea tree hidden in the ancient lands of Opium in the Golden Triangle. In this misty, mountainous region situated along the border of Burma and Laos, nature’s best conditions are reunited: an exceptional terroir at an altitude of 1,500 meters allows this tea tree to let its rich leaves express unique and exquisite saveurs.

Dried leaves : The tender leaves and young, elegantly twisted buds decked out in majestic volcanic livery exhale a smooth perfume of frangipani flowers wet from the monsoon, joined by exquisite notes of pink galangal.

Infused leaves : Luminous green streaked with garnet. Still warm, the leaves seduce with a gourmet note of praline followed by a fresh burst of rose water. Then from the leaves exudes a fruity-green score evoking freshly-picked starfruit.

Liquor : The opalescent orange liquor blends into a round, cashew-tinted hue evoking elegantly fruity sensations of roasted apricot. A pleasantly sweet-and-floral nuance of dainty violet frames a delicious rush of candied quince.
